I-70 west of Indianapolis reopens after crash

CLOVERDALE — Interstate 70 west of Indianapolis is reopened after a weather-related crash killed one person and closed all lanes in both directions.

A semitrailer driver called police to report a car slid off the road and flipped in the median near Cloverdale about 3 a.m. Sunday. The driver, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity hasn’t been released yet.

Police say the crash closed the highway for 18 miles in both directions as crews worked to clear the scene. The Indiana Department of Transportation says all lanes reopened before 6 a.m.

Police say roads in the area were extremely slick at the time.
