TERRE HAUTE — The identity of the man who died in an apparent shooting incident in Terre Haute early Saturday morning was released by police on Sunday.

The victim was 48-year-old Daryl E. Graves, police said, and his name was initially withheld pending family notification.

According to the Terre Haute Police Department, Graves was found lying inside a home in the 1900 block of 231⁄2 Drive, with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, identified as Kevin A. Williams, was apparently seen by witnesses fleeing in a silver vehicle and was later found at the Days Inn in Terre Haute, police said.

Williams was arrested on preliminary charges of murder and possession of a firearm without a license, authorities said.

Terre Haute Police Department said officers responded to the report of a shooting at the residence at approximately 12:52 a.m. At about 1:53 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle matching the description provided by witnesses near the intersection of 13th and Tippecanoe streets, police said.

The Terre Haute Police Department said the female driver, Janet Akers, was also arrested for a preliminary charge of assisting a criminal, and her passenger, Willie L. Jenkins, was taken into custody for preliminary charges of obstruction of justice and false reporting.
