RONN MOTT: “Boko Haram”

Boko Haram, an absolutely insane Muslim terrorist group held the focus of the world’s news organizations these past two weeks because they captured more than 200 school girls.  They did this because they knew the Nigerian army and government would not come after them.

According to reports from Nigeria, the Nigerian Army knows exactly where the Boko Haram camp is and it’s a hastily put together village of about 3,000 people and many of them are women who have been captured and used as slaves … slaves that are supposed to do anything the Boko Haram terrorists want them to do. Nigeria is a strange mix. It is mostly a Muslim country with about 30 percent being Christians from the southern part of the country. The northern part of the country is also Muslim and Boko Haram has a rather large influence in the area and they enforce it by being cruel.

The number one religious leader of a very strict and conservative Muslim country, Saudi Arabia, said Boko Haram is trying to stain the good name of the Muslim faith just to get pressure put on Muslim countries with hard-line rules and regulations. The Muslim countries should be upset. Boko Haram means “Western education is forbidden,” and comes down hard on religious and private schools that are trying to teach the students things that students in the western world have to learn. Some Muslim countries know an educated populace is needed to survive be it war, or be it business. I have said many times, you cannot take a sheep herder who is trained in the Koran (and it only) and make him a jet mechanic. That hard fact has been learned by the Egyptian Air Force and the Syrian Air Force every time they clash with the Israeli Air Force.

The head cleric of Saudi Arabia’s religious conclave is absolutely correct. Boko Haram is a cowardly bunch that in any other part of the world would be in prison looking out. They are despicable. No education worth mentioning, mostly illiterate, and they get away with this rotten behavior because Nigeria’s government is so corrupt almost nothing can get done. They have money because of oil, and they are one of the richest countries, if not the richest, in Africa. They could have a very smart, very well trained military dedicated to serving the public except the government is so corrupt it does not want a strong military and, obviously, Boko Haram knows that.

This will make some people angry … Winston Churchill once said, “One day you will miss Colonialism,” and while I personally believe in every man voting to have the government he wants, most of the governments in Africa stink. One shining example of good government is South Africa, but how many times do you get a man like Nelson Mandela? Truly a gift from the Almighty and it is only given once in a lifetime. Disease runs rampant in many of the countries, politicians fill their pockets, and the people, regardless of what their country is called, have practically no chance for a decent future. The best thing about a country like Nigeria is the opportunity to leave and go somewhere else.

I would hope we find these young women alive and mostly well, but the chances for that are rather slim. And I hope we have an opportunity to see these cowardly morons, Boko Haram, cut down in a fight where real men take these kidnappers and have them answer to Allah.
