Name released in Jasonville homicide

The identity of an apparent homicide victim in Jasonville has been released.

Greene County Coroner Sherri Wilson said an autopsy was conducted this morning on Joshua Allen Ray, 25, of Jasonville.

A cause of death will not be released, however, pending results of the police investigation, said Wilson, who has indicated the death involved “suspicious circumstances.”

Police are looking into the death that occurred in western Greene County, and they are asking anyone with information to contact them.

Ray’s body was found on Meridian Street in Jasonville around 12:55 a.m. early Wednesday, New Year’s Day.

In a written statement from the Jasonville Police Department released Thursday, police are asking for anyone with information to contact Greene County Crime Stoppers at 812-847-5463. According to the police statement, all callers are anonymous and a cash reward will be offered for any information that leads to an arrest.

Police will update the media and the public as the investigation continues, the statement said.

The Jasonville Police Department, the Indiana State Police and the Greene County Coroner’s Office are involved in the investigation.
