TERRE HAUTE —
A Terre Haute family is hoping that their missing teenager will be found in time to celebrate Christmas with her family.
Seventeen-year-old Lily Cowart was last seen by her family on the afternoon of Thursday, Dec. 19. She was walking from her family’s home in the 1600 block of Fourth Avenue to the Vigo County Public Library, 200 block of South Seventh Street.
Lily’s mother Kathy Terrell is asking anyone who has information about Lily’s whereabouts to contact her at 812-264-9071 or the Terre Haute Police at 812-238-1661.
Lily’s mother and stepfather, Norman Terrell, have filed a missing person’s report with the police department. The THPD juvenile division is investigating the case.
When she was last seen, Lily was wearing a white jacket, blue jeans, tan boots and black gloves. She is about 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighs about 113 pounds.
Lily was last seen between 3 and 3:30 p.m. She was supposed to call her parents when she reached the library, Terrell said, but she never called. The teenager’s cell phone has not been used since she disappeared, and no posts have been made to her Facebook page.
The family moved to Terre Haute this past summer from Alabama, and Lily reportedly had not yet made many friends in the Terre Haute area.
