Kegler's Korner: Team Paulin takes TH Bowling Center’s ’08 Shootout

Team Paulin edged Team Pruett 8,788-8,734 to win the highly-competitive 2008 Shootout at the Terre Haute Bowling Center recently.

The Shootout is a A-B-C-D (based on average) blind-draw tournament matching up teams of four bowlers with differing skill levels based on bowling averages. Twelve team competed this year.

The winning team consisted of Jeff Acord, Dave Renshaw, Jared Norris and Dave Paulin. The runner-up squad was Phil Huynh, Josh Snowden, Paul Wright and Marc Pruett.

Rounding out the top five teams were Rick Rogers, Doug Weaver, Dave Monroney and John Fugate (Team Fugate: 8,680); Bob Lovvron, Jim Sullivan, Clint Woods and Guy Johnson (Team Johnson; 8,647) and John Menegheni, Gene Bedwell, Troy Williams and Darrell Davis (Team Davis; 8,640).

Individually, high average went to Davis at 250.4 (228, 278, 264), Austin Marsh (242.2), Ryan Nichols (241.0), Weaver (239.1) and Norris (237.5).

High games were Norris (290), Weaver (288), Luke Ruble (280), Nichols (280) and Williams (279).


n Bowling Center — The duo of April White-Stephanie Gilbert won the Greater Terre Haute Women’s Bowling Association Buddy-No Tap Tournament at the Bowling Center on Oct. 25-26.

White-Gilbert recorded a score of 1,887, topping Crystal Sullivan-Dan Dierdorf (1,812). Other top finishers were Alusta Kneeves-Mike Zebrowski (1,771), Sherry Morley-Carl Morley (1,757), Pat Stewart-Gary Hiddle (1,737), Sarah Machino-Robert Morley (1,721) and Amanda Harris-Tod Harris (1,702).

Monthly No Tap tournament winners at the Bowling Center in October were Gregg Jolly (men, 920) and Carolyn Wilkins (women, 806).

Also, mark your calendars for THBC’s New Year’s Day event. Stay tuned for further updates as this year’s annual event is in the early planning stages.

n Vigo Bowl — On Tuesday, Gordy’s Tuesday Night King of the Hill singles sweeper is set for 7 p.m. with a payout of $100 (first), $70 (second) and $40 (third) based on 21 bowlers. This is a handicap tournament (80 percent of 220 average).

On Nov. 16, a Mixed Shootout will start at 11 a.m. Sign up as man-woman couples, and will be placed in A-B division based on average. This is a handicap event. Cost is $50 per couple, with entries due by 10 p.m. on Nov. 14.
