• Sparks leaving VU — After guiding Vincennes University to the program’s 15th Men’s NJCAA National Championship — and second in a row — and finishing ninth in the 2009 Intercollegiate Team Championships, VU Coach Gary Sparks has resigned to accept a position with the United States Bowling Congress.

Sparks will relocate to the USBC’s hometown of Arlington, Texas. He will develop programs for the USBC that promote and bolster the sport with youth and amateur bowlers.

The USBC was formed to serve amateur adult and youth bowlers throughout the United States, serving more than 2.5 million members. It is also the national governing body for bowling as recognized by the United States Olympic Committee.

In addition to coaching he has directed VU’s Bowling Industry Management and Technology Program and has managed the VU Bowling Lanes for 20 years.
