TERRE HAUTE — Indiana State’s men’s basketball team is looking for a few good games.

Home games that is.

The Sycamores have filled in most of the blanks in their nonconference schedule, but as ever, ISU coach Greg Lansing would like to visit the friendly confines of Hulman Center a bit more often.

Right now, ISU has just three nonconference home games confirmed against Ball State, IUPUI and Belmont.

“We want to get one more series started. We need to get another home-and-home series started that we can play at home,” Lansing said.

So far, the carrots on the schedule are road games.

ISU will play at Notre Dame on Nov. 17. It will be the second time in four seasons that ISU has played a buy game against the Fighting Irish. When Jake Odum and Lucas Eitel were freshmen, ISU lost 81-72 on Nov. 30 at the Joyce Center.

“They’re one of the best programs in the country in a BCS-caliber league. I’ve got to know Mike Bray a bit and he liked how hard our team played when we were up there. He wanted a good RPI game and I think we’ll be a good RPI team. To their credit, they’re playing us. A lot of schools of their caliber won’t,” Lansing said.

ISU also learned its Great Alaska Shootout opponent on Thursday. The Sycamores will open the tournament in Anchorage, Alaska on Nov. 27 against Tulsa. Game time has yet to be announced.

The Great Alaska Shootout field was supposed to include Iowa, which would’ve been the marquee team in the eight-team tournament. However, Iowa pulled out to participate in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas. The Hawkeyes were replaced in the field by Wisconsin-Green Bay.

The ISU-Tulsa loser and winner will play the TCU-Alaska-Anchorage loser or winner on Nov. 29. The championship round is Nov. 30. Pepperdine, Denver and Harvard round out the field.

Ball State opens ISU’s season at Hulman Center on Nov. 9. ISU will travel to Belmont on Nov. 14. The Bruins will return the game within the season and play at Hulman Center on Dec. 28.

In addition to Notre Dame, ISU will play road games at Dec. 7 at Eastern Illinois and Dec. 14 at Missouri-Kansas City. The Panthers and Kangaroos will play in Terre Haute in 2013-14.

The game at UMKC allows senior guard Dawon Cummings to play in his hometown and sets up a reunion with former ISU assistant coach Kareem Richardson, now head coach at UMKC.

ISU plays host to IUPUI on Dec. 21.
