TERRE HAUTE —
Indiana State sophomore Megan Stone has earned her first Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week honors, the league office announced this week.
Stone led the Sycamores in the three games they played, finishing the week with a .667 batting average. Stone went 6 for 9 at the plate with three runs batted in and crushed her fourth home run of the season Saturday. For the weekend, she also received two walks, leading to a .727 on-base percentage. For the season, Stone owns a .361 batting average and .447 on-base percentage with 19 RBIs and a team-leading four homers and nine doubles.
Stone also marks the first Sycamore to win a weekly award since April 16, 2012, when Lindsey Beisser won Pitcher of the Week and is the first Sycamore softball player to win Player of the Week since April 27, 2009, when Katie Armour won the award.
The Sycamores (11-17 overall, 2-4 MVC) will travel to face Bradley on Friday night.
