GENEALOGY: Time for the Indiana Black History Challenge

Exploring your African genealogy goes hand in hand with knowing about Black History. To promote that goal, the Indiana Historical Society is sponsoring the Indiana Black History Challenge all this month, ending on Feb. 27.

Children and their families who participate in the Challenge can learn about Indiana Black History and win a chance at a Family Fun Pack, which includes a free membership to the Indiana Historical Society, an overnight stay at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Indianapolis, a gift certificate for the Best Chocolate in Town, four tickets to the Indiana State Museum, and an invitation to the grand opening of the Indiana Experience on March 20 in Indianapolis.

This event is open to all ages, one entry per person. However, the focus is on children age 13 and under. Teachers whose classes participate in the Challenge will win a special classroom prize. The Challenge involves learning about Black History and then answering a set of questions.
