Riverton Parke snapped a 24-game losing streak in high school football Friday night by defeating host Union 30-12.
The Panthers’ previous last win was a 29-28 decision over North Central on Oct. 1, 2010.
Riverton Parke (1-1) will try to make it a two-game winning streak next Friday at Fountain Central, while Union (0-2) will visit Indiana Deaf School next Friday.
In other high school football Friday night:
• North Vermillion 54, South Vermillion 0 — At Clinton, North Vermillion blanked the host Wildcats in the annual battle of Vermillion County.
North Vermillion (2-0) will play its first home game of the season next Friday against Covington. South Vermillion (1-1) will travel to Owen Valley next Friday.
• Delayed — At Brazil, host Northview was leading Edgewood 13-3 in the third quarter when nearby lightning forced a delay in action.
The game will resume today.
• Delayed — At Covington, Friday night’s Rockville-Covington game was suspended with 11:13 left in the first half because of lightning. The Rox were leading 13-0.
It will resume at 10 a.m. today at Covington.
The Rox had scored seven points in the first quarter and six in the second quarter when action was halted.
