BRAZIL — After week of correcting some fundamental break downs in their first loss of the season, Terre Haute North bounced back with an impressive 47-14 victory on Friday night at Northview High School

Ricky Brookins ran for three touchdowns and 204 yards in three quarters, quarterback Chris Barrett II threw a touchdown and ran for another and placekicker Zach Potter kicked two field goals in the Patriots’ second victory.

“[Bouncing back] is all we talked about this week. We were obviously disappointed in our performance. But we have high character guys and they took the criticism and bounced back from day one [of practice]. I’m very proud of the way we bounced back,” North coach Chris Barrett said.

The only thing that stopped the Patriots was themselves. North scored every time it had the football in the opening. The Patriots racked up 40 points, scoring on the ground, through the air and with the kicking in the opening half.

The Patriots were ahead 47-0 going into the fourth quarter. North fumbled twice in the fourth quarter and Northview’s Ben Girton scored on runs of 15 and 12 yards.

A fumble early in the first quarter (recovered by North) and five penalties were the only stumbling blocks for the Patriots.

Northview received the opening kickoff, but North’s Ricky Scank and Austin Barron forced a punt after three plays and the Patriots were end zone bound.

North ran off six plays before Potter came on to kick a 20-yard field goal.

Patriots Scank and Vahn Billberry forced the Knights into another three-and-out series. A short punt gave North possession in Northview territory and on the first center snap Brookins ran 39 yards for a touchdown.

The Patriots went to the air for their second touchdown, Nate Carson taking a Chris Barrett pass up the sideline for a 27-yard score.

After another three and out Northview series, North took possession on its on 11-yard line. On the first snap, Brookins turned the corner for an 89-yard touchdown run.

North’s Ryan Moshak blocked a Northview punt to set up next score. On the first play, Lolgan Grim took a Barrett pass 28 yards for a touchdown and 30-0 North lead.

North’s Ethan Barrett intercepted a Northview pass that was tipped into the air at the line of scrimmage. Starting from the Northview 36-yard line, the Patriots reached the Northview 7-yard line before two penalties moved the football back.

Potter trotted on to the field and kicked a 48-yard field goal to put the Patriots up 33-0.

The Patriots made it 40-0 at halftime when Logan Grim ran 28 yards to the Northview 6-yard line and Brookins scored his third touchdown of the half on a six-yard run.

Northview kicked North to open the second half and appeared to have the Patriots stopped for the first time.

But on fourth down and one, Barrett took the ball straight up the middle for an 89-yard touchdown and 47-0 North lead.
