Prep football: Wilkey runs wild again in Rockville victory

MARSHALL, Ind. — Keiontre’ Wilkey enjoyed another big game Friday night, rushing for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries to lead visiting Rockville over Turkey Run 38-0 in Wabash River Conference high school football.

Also contributing to the Rox offense was Ben Cunningham, who ran for 127 yards and two TDs on 20 attempts. Tyler Knoblett and Jake Bassett added one TD scamper apiece for the winners.

In other high school football Friday:

Class A No. 9 North Central 27, North Knox 21 — At Bicknell, senior Chase VanSchoyck rushed for 203 yards and three touchdowns and caught a pass for another TD to lead the visiting Thunderbirds to a Southwest Conference victory.

North Central (4-1 overall, 2-0 Southwest) will play next Friday at Eastern Greene, while North Knox (3-2, 2-1) will play host to Union that same night.

Class A No. 2 North Vermillion 79, Riverton Parke 0 — At Cayuga, the host Falcons had no trouble putting up points as they improved their records to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Wabash River Conference.

Riverton Parke (1-4, 0-4) will travel to Turkey Run next Friday, while coach Brian Crabtree’s North Vermillion squad will visit Attica that same night.

Class A No. 1 Linton 48, Springs Valley 7 — At French Lick, coach Brian Oliver’s Miners boosted their record to 5-0 by putting up 48 points on the home team.

Linton’s next test will be at home next Friday against North Daviess. Springs Valley (1-4) also will be at home that night, with its opponent being Crawford County.

Sullivan 15, Edgewood 8 — At Sullivan, the host Golden Arrows slipped past Edgewood in Western Indiana Conference action.

Sullivan (3-2 overall, 1-1 WIC) will visit Owen Valley next Friday, while Edgweood (1-4, 0-3) will welcome West Vigo to its field that night.

Southside HomeSchool 12, Union 0 — At Dugger, the host Bulldogs took it on the chin for the fifth time this season.

Union will try to get its first 2013 victory next Friday at North Knox.

Robinson 22, Marshall 0 — At Marshall, the visiting Maroons broke open a close Little Illini Egyptian game with two third-quarter touchdowns.

Joe Smith had 141 yards on just seven carries and scored twice for Robinson, which also got 107 yards rushing by Jason Richart.

Villa Grove 48, Martinsville 22 — At Martinsville, Ill., the host Bluestreaks fell to 0-4 for the season and 0-2 in Little Okaw Valley action.

For Martinsville, Kyle Mulkins passed for 178 yards and two touchdowns to Joey Perisho while also accumulating 96 yards on the ground on 21 carries. Perisho had a total of four receptions for 156 yards.
