PREP ROUNDUP: Carter tosses one-hit shutout, homers for Northview

BRAZIL — Taylor Carter pitched a one-hit shutout and hit a two-run home run while leading Northview to a 10-0 victory over visiting Edgewood in girls high school softball on Friday.

Carter (7-4) struck out 13 batters in the five-inning game that ended on the 10-run-rule.

Northview scored three runs on two hits and one Edgewood error in the first inning and extended the lead to 7-0 in the second inning with four runs on four hits and one Mustang error. The Knights wrapped up their second WIC victory with a three-run fifth inning when Lindsey Potter belted in a two-run to end the game.

Highlights — For Northview, Taylor Carter struckout 13 batters and walked one while pitching a one-hit shutout. Carter was 1-2 at the plate with her ninth home run of the season. Lindsey Potter was 2-3 with a double and Ashley Hughes added a double to the Knights’ seven-hit attack.

Next — Northview (11-7, 2-1 in WIC) plays in the Big 4 Tournament on Saturday at Terre Haute North.
