Vigo County baseball teams win nonconference games

TERRE HAUTE — Both Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South won nonconference games on Thursday.

North defeated Linton 9-4 to improve its overall record to 13-1. South triumphed 16-0 over Riverton Parke to improve its record to 10-4.

Both the Patriots and Braves play Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference games in the Indianapolis area this weekend. North plays at Center Grove and South plays at Carmel.

Highlights — For TH North, Zach Milam went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI; T.J. Collett went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI; Nathan Will had a double and an RBI; and Sam Wolf and Lane Dransfield each had one RBI. For Linton, Taylor had a double and triple.

n Rockville 13, Clay City 5 — At Clay City, Rockville scored four runs in the third inning on a two-run homer by Ross Brown and two-run double by John Brown to take the lead for good in a win over Clay City.

Rockville broke the game open with five runs on three hits and two Clay City errors in the fifth inning and four runs in the seven on two hits and two Eel error.

Highlights — For Rockville, Ben Cunningham, Tyler Rapp and Luke Monroe each contributed two hits to the Rox 11-hit offense. Ross Brown hit a 2-run homer, John Brown a 2-run double and Rapp a 1-run double. That offense supported the 6 1/3 innings of two-hit pitching by Nick Waltz (3-2). For Clay City, Noah Denker, Colten Harbour, Curtis Yocom and Wyatt Gard each had 1 hit.
