Sullivan blasts Riverton Parke

TERRE HAUTE — In the final game of the day, the Sullivan Golden Arrows used their size, strength and defensive ability to move into the semifinals against Rockville after a 54-25 victory against Riverton Parke.

Taller and at most positions and thicker and heavier in all of them, the Arrows sped to leads of 8-2, 14-4 and 23-7 to put the game out of reach early.

Jake Kinnaman, the biggest and strongest of the Sullivan players, was almost impossible for the lighter Panthers to stop inside and finished with 22 points. Brooks Weszely, one of the stronger point guards you’ll find, added seven points, six assists and four steals and Nathan Pirtle — who probably wasn’t thrilled with his shooting percentage — led all rebounders with 10 from the backcourt.

Adam Wilson led Riverton Parke with seven points and Matt Haltom — another hard-luck shooter on Friday — led his team with eight rebounds.
