Pairings drawn for high school softball sectionals

TERRE HAUTE — The IHSAA announced Thursday its pairings for the 2013 sectional softball tournament slated for May 20-25.

Regionals will take place May 28.

Below are sectional schedules that involve Wabash Valley schools.



Class 4A

At Martinsville

For Robinson, Ashlyn Sullivan went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, Connor York went 2 for 4 with a double, Olivia Hickey and Kyndal Mendenhall each went 2 for 3 and Madison Bayless and Karnell Bowen each went 2 for 4.

Records — Marshall was 9-10 after this game. Robinson was 12-13 overall and 3-8 in the LIC.

Highlights — Indiana University-bound Reece Phillips pitched a shutout in the lightning-interrupted battle for first place in the Western Indiana Conference. The Vikings got hits from Kyle Stewart, Derrick Bennett and Lucas Fagg but lost the game on an unearned run.

Next — West Vigo (11-4, 3-1 WIC) hosts North Montgomery for a 10 a.m. doubleheader Saturday. Edgewood is 12-6 and 4-0.

Reschedulings

n Rain strikes again — Several postponements and reschedulings of porting events, some caused by Thursday’s rain, have been reported to the Tribune-Star.

Among them:

n Clay City at West Vigo baseball, originally slated for Thursday, has been canceled.

n West Vigo at Edgewood softball, originally slated for Thursday, has been shifted to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

n Terre Haute South will play Terre Haute North in a dual boys golf match May 22, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Hulman Links.

n Thursday’s South at Sullivan baseball game has been moved to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

n Thursday’s South vs. South Vermillion girls tennis match has been canceled.

n Thursday’s South at Linton softball game has been postponed. No new date has been set.

n Thursday’s Terre Haute North boys golf match vs. South Vermillion at Hulman Links has been canceled.

n Completion of the suspended Northview at North baseball game from the recent Big Four Classic will take place at 5 p.m. next Thursday.

n The South at Northview baseball game will be played at 10 a.m. May 18.
