PREP ROUNDUP: Terre Haute North improves to 2-0 in MIC girls soccer

INDIANAPOLIS — Terre Haute North will finish the 2013 season unbeaten in Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference girls soccer play after the Patriots won 2-1 at Lawrence North on Saturday.

No other MIC teams scheduled the Patriots this season, their last in the league.

Spencer Grim scored in each half for the Patriots, her 15th and 16th goals of the season, while Libby Ward had one of two assists on each goal. Determination of final conference standings has yet to be finalized.

Boys

• Braves, Patriots compete — At Westfield, a not-quite-full Terre Haute South team placed 11th among 26 teams and also 11th among 15 top-25 teams in the varsity race at the Flashrock Invitational.

Competing in the invitational portion of the event, Terre Haute North finished fourth among 28 other teams.

South was without Jackson Bertoli, who placed second in the same race a year ago; Bertoli was taking his ACT exam.

“We would have finished third or fourth with [Bertoli],” coach Kyle Walsh reported. “I love the fitness level of our team.”

Riley Stohler finished 20th for the Braves, while Peter Davis led Terre Haute with a ninth-place finish in the other race.
