PREP ROUNDUP: Rain pushes back Valley action

TERRE HAUTE — There were several rained-out events in Wabash Valley high school athletics Tuesday.

Among them:

• Terre Haute North vs. Linton junior varsity and varsity baseball has been rescheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday at the Patriots’ Don Jennings Field.

• West Vigo vs. Sullivan baseball will be made up as part of a doubleheader May 15 at the Vikings’ field, starting at 4:45 p.m.

• West Vigo vs. Sullivan softball will be made up Thursday at the Vikings’ field, starting at 5 p.m.

• West Vigo’s home track and field meet with Terre Haute North and Greencastle also was postponed, no new date has been determined yet.

Baseball

Monday

• Terre Haute North 15, Rockville 5 — At Rockville, Zach Milam knocked in five runs and T.J. Collett knocked in four to lead the Patriots’ offense.

• Marshall 5, Oblong 1 — At Oblong, Ill., K.J. Rogers improved his pitching record to 6-0 to help the Lions win on the road.

• Olney 4, Robinson 2 — At Olney, Ill., Robinson fell in a Little Illini Conference game.

• Terre Haute North 14, Rockville 1 — At Rockville, Jazmine Allen went 3 for 3 with a home run, double, four runs scored and four runs batted in to lead the visiting Patriots to victory.

Highlights — For North, Jazmine Allen went 3 for 3 with a home run, double, 4 RBIs and 4 runs; Katie Herrick also went 3 for 3 with 2 runs; Allie McKinney went 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs; and Jessica Will, Sierra Sykes and Megan Powers each contributed a double. Sykes also knocked in 2 runs.

• North Central 4, Clay City 0 — At Terre Haute’s Miss Softball America complex, the Thunderbirds emerged victorious in the “Battle for Bob” game to raise funds for cancer patient and youth softball coach Bob Price.

• South Vermillion 13, Paris 0 — At Paris, Ill., the Wildcats banged out 17 hits in a six-inning victory.

South Vermillion plated four runs in the fifth inning to take an 8-0 lead and finished scoring with five runs in the sixth.

Taylor Andrew was the winning pitcher for the Wildcats.



• Turkey Run 11, Crawfordsville 1 — At Marshall, Ind., Shelby Crum went 2 for 3, knocked in three runs, scored three runs and stole five bases to lead the host Warriors to a five-inning victory.

•  Casey 8, Hutsonville-Palestine 0 — At Hutsonville, Ill., the Warriors improved to 13-3 and to 6-0 in the Little Illini Conference with the victory.

Winning pitcher Lexie Black hurled a three-hitter and struck out 12 batters. Saidee Brandenburg had three doubles and drove in a run and Dakota Parker had three singles and an RBI for Casey.
