Prep roundup: Clay City softball gets offense going early to improve to 2-0

CLAY CITY — Class A No. 19-ranked Clay City scored four runs in the first inning then held off North Knox for a 6-4 non-conference victory in high school girls softball Thursday.

Clay City (2-0) pounded out nine hits, led by Madison Booe and Alyssa Yocum with two each. The Eels had four extra base hits, led by Booe’s first-inning triple and doubles by Brianna Price, Alexis Price, Emmie Kittle and one by winning pitcher Raven Allender.

The Eels scored four runs on five hits in the first inning with Yocum’s triple, doubles by the two Prices and singles by Booe, Whitney Jeffers.

Highlights — For Clay City, Madison Booe and Alyssa Yocum were 2-3 at the plate for the Class A 19th-ranked Eels. Yocum ran-out a triple and Alexis and Brianna Price each had a double. North Knox, Alivia Held had two hits, including a double.?

Sullivan 3, TH North 2 — At Sullivan, the Golden Arrows improved to 2-1 with the victory over the Patriots. North fell to 1-1. No other information was available at press time.



Northview 10, Linton 0 — At Brazil, Taylor Carter had a two-run home run, a double and five RBI to lead the Knights past the Miners.
