NEWTON, Ill. —
Robinson got off to a winning start in the Illinois High School Association boys basketball tournament Tuesday, defeating Marshall 68-37.
The Maroons are 26-4 and will play Casey or Newton in the Newton Class 2A Regional championship game Friday night.
Casey and Newton play tonight. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
The Maroons and Lions were tied twice in the first period. Marshall hit three 3-pointers in the period but trailed 14-11 at the first stop.
Robinson took control of the contest in the second stanza, scoring nine straight points for a 23-13 lead and holding a 33-17 advantage at halftime. Aaron Siler had 10 points for the winners in the quarter.
Cory Blount had six points in an 11-0 run for the winners in the third canto and the Maroons had a 52-32 lead going into the final frame.
Siler led all scorers with 20 points for Robinson. Michael Akande had 14 points for the winners, Blount 11 and Derrick Nicholas 10.
Taylor Maurer had 14 points and Thomas Sisson 13 in their final games for Marshall as the Lions concluded a 22-9 season.

In other Class A boys basketball games:
• At Dieterich, Dieterich defeated Martinsville 63-43. Zach Mulkins led the Streaks with 24 and Chris Lee had 13. Martinsville finished 2-19.
• At Chrisman, Chrisman defeated Milford 46-39. Ty Bolen led the Cardinals with 22 points.
