TERRE HAUTE —
Terre Haute South quarterback Danny Etling was announced Thursday on ESPNU as one of 24 quarterbacks in the nation who will compete in the Elite 11 quarterback competiton.
Etling has made a verbal commitment to play for Purdue. The signal caller advanced to the regional competition for high school quarterbacks in the class of 2013.
“It means a lot. It’s a goal you set, when you achieve that goal, it’s a huge relief. Now, I’ve got to compete to be the best 11,” Etling said.
From July 18-22 in Redondo Beach, Calif., he’ll have the chance to work with NFL quarterbacks such as Drew Brees. The finals will be aired on ESPN with “Elite 11 QB Camp: The Finals” airing Aug. 7 and Aug. 14.
“They send me a 120-page playbook with 84 plays, have to memorize that. We compete with eachother, the top 11 quarterbacks win. They have NFL quarterbacks like Drew Brees and they teach you things,” Etling said.
