Coaches’ quotes — Ridge on his squad: “We’re playing pretty well right now. We’ve had a good week of practice. … I think we’ve kind of turned the corner this week and we’re hoping for a good weekend.
Ridge on playing the Cougars: “They’re very good, a very talented team. They’ve got three senior guards who have started since they were freshmen. They’re all good athletes — big and strong — and they can all shoot it a little bit.”
Ridge on playing the Quakers: “They’re a good, young squad. Coach Weaver has got those guys working their way up. He’s making good progress there. He’s a good coach and I know they’ll be ready to play.”
Hodson on his squad: “I think our team has been up and down this year. We’ve beaten Bloomington South and lost to teams where we had a decent, healthy lead that we let slip away. So we’re trying shore up some mistakes and reduce the mental errors. We’ve got some quickness. Despite our lack of size, we’ve done a good job of rebounding.”
Hodson on playing the Braves: “They’re quick. They get after you for 32 minutes. I saw them live against Sullivan and they pressed basically the entire game. They wreaked havoc with a lot of deflections.”
Weaver on his squad: “We played better last weekend [in picking up two victories]. It’s my second year here and we’re trying to build our program. We obviously have a very young team with only two seniors. We’re kinda disappointed with our start, but our schedule was pretty tough before and around Christmas. If we can be a balanced-scoring team and get better defensively … I think we can make strides.”
Weaver on playing the Braves: “They won the Pizza Hut [Wabash Valley] Classic [right after Christmas]. They played very well during that stretch. They’ve played some tough teams since then. We know they’ll shoot a lot of 3s and drive and kick. … Herrin is a solid post player. Heyen, he’s a very good shooter from what I can see.”
