Rockville and Covington won semifinal high school baseball games Monday to advance to the championship game of the Rockville Class A Sectional.
Rockville rallied to edge Attica 3-2 and Covington defeated Riverton Parke 12-2, scoring eight runs in the seventh inning. The Rox took a 14-15 record into the title tilt while Covington was 3-23.
Due to rain, the championship game was postponed. A decision was expected this morning whether the game will be played today or Wednesday.
Attica made the most of one hit and three walks to take a 2-0 lead in the second inning of the opening game and held that lead until the seventh stanza.
John Brown was safe on an error to open the Rox seventh and Dalton Clark followed with his second hit of the contest. Nick Waltz socked a two-out double to tie the game and he was driven in by Brandon Cooper for the winning run.
Clark pitched the final two inning to get the win, improving to 6-3. He struck out two batters in the sixth and struck out the side in the final frame.
The Rox and Red Ramblers had split two games during the season.
Riverton Parke took a 1-0 lead in the second game against Covington but the Trojans plated four runs with two outs in second stanza to assume the lead as the Panthers turned the only double play of the game.
Karson Allen drove in two runs with the only hit of the frame after two batters were hit by pitches, two were issued walks and one reached base on a muffed third strike.
Dakota Milner came on in relief in the second inning and pitched two-baseball for four innings until the Trojan bats came alive in the seventh.
Luther Mathas and Brian Obenchain each had two hits for the Panthers.
