TERRE HAUTE —
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana has announced that Terre Haute Regional Hospital will be a preferred provider for Anthem individual insurance plans in 2014.
Under the agreement, Regional Hospital will serve as the exclusive hospital network for residents of Vigo County who purchase an Anthem individual insurance plan on the federal health insurance marketplace, or exchange. Enrollment on the exchange began Oct. 1.
“This arrangement with Terre Haute Regional Hospital will result in lower premiums and lowest out-of-pocket costs when Anthem individual customers seek medical care at a Terre Haute Regional facility,” said Robert W. Hillman, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Indiana.
The Anthem-Regional exclusive agreement also applies to individuals who purchase an Anthem insurance plan off the exchange.
“We’re delighted to be Anthem’s exclusive provider in Indiana’s new health insurance exchange,” said Mary Ann Conroy, CEO of Regional Hospital. “This agreement extends our ability to provide residents of Vigo County and the Wabash Valley with the high-quality, high-value health services they deserve.”
The Affordable Care Act mandates that all individuals be covered by private, governmental, or employer-sponsored health insurance by Jan. 1.
