Green's grand slam helps Shakamak to sectional win

EVANSVILLE — Patrick Green pitched the first four innings for his seventh win of the year and made things easier for himself with a second-inning grand slam as Shakamak opened the Class A Shakamak Sectional with a 9-1 win over Clay City on Thursday.

Brodie Crowe and Braden Cox added two hits each for the winners, while Mason Persinger, Wyatt Gard and Noah Denker had the three Clay City hits.

Play resumes at Shakamak on Monday, starting with an 11 a.m. game between Eminence and Union. Shakamak plays White River Valley in the second game, with the championship game at 8 p.m.
