INDIANAPOLIS — Miranda Camp and Nicole Howe of Terre Haute South won their first match of high school tennis Friday at the state individual doubles finals, then won the first set against a powerful Park Tudor team before falling in three sets.

Camp and Howe beat Courtney Clark and Olivia Erekson of Northridge 6-4, 6-2 on Friday morning in matches played at Park Tudor, then won a first-set tiebreaker against Hannah Klapper and Ali Lebovits of the host school before losing 6-7, 6-4, 6-1.

“The girls played a very good first match and a very good two sets against Park Tudor,” coach Bill Blankenbaker said afterward. “They had a great season … this was their second year together at state, and to finish in the top eight is very good.”

Camp was the only senior in the Braves’ regular lineup and will be playing at the University of Southern Indiana.

“She’s had a really good last two years,” Blankenbaker noted. “We’re really going to miss her and I wish the best of luck to her [at USI].”
