PREP ROUNDUP: No. 16 South tennis wins own Invitational

TERRE HAUTE — Sixteenth-ranked Terre Haute South overcame a 2-0 deficit in what proved to be the championship match of its own high school boys tennis invitational Saturday, winning the last three matches for a victory over 19th-ranked Evansville Memorial.

After blanking both Roncalli and Evansville Memorial, the Braves got a singles win from Nathan Bogle and doubles victories from Alex Barksdale and Reed Crawford — Barksdale’s third partner of the day, because of an injury — and Matthew Gonzalez and Trace Harruff.

• Patriots win — At Terre Haute North, the host Patriots won three of their five matches against Indianapolis Chatard which proved to be the difference in the eighth annual Patriot Invitational.

Northview finished third, winning four of its five individual matches against Southport.

North got individual championships from Tate Egan at No. 1 singles, Andrew Farmer at No. 3 singles and Alex Farmer and Sam Wolf at No. 1 doubles.

Andrew Farmer lost just five games in his three matches and Egan lost just six games. In two matches, Ethan Caldwell lost just two games for the Patriots.

North’s girls were second and South’s boys fourth in team standings.
