Prep Roundup: Pairings announced for girls tennis sectionals

Ninth-ranked Terre Haute South and 11th-ranked Terre Haute North are positioned for a possible rematch for the girls high school tennis sectional championship Saturday on South’s court as a result of pairings drawn Monday.
South won the regular-season match with North by a 3-2 score, three of the individual matches going three sets.
West Vigo and Sullivan open the tournament with a 5 p.m. match Thursday. The winner of that match faces North and South Vermillion meets the host Braves in 5 p.m. matches on Friday.
Saturday’s championship match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

• Knights open with Linton — At Brazil, the Northview Sectional starts with a 5 p.m. match Thursday between Linton and the host Knights.
The winner of that first match plays South Putnam in the second semifinal match on Friday, following a 5 p.m. match between Owen Valley and Greencastle. Championship play is 10 a.m. Saturday.

• Patriots fall — At Vincennes, Sarah Potter got Terre Haute North’s only point Monday night as the 11th-ranked Patriots lost 4-1 to fourth-ranked Jasper.

• Mustangs wrap up WIC title — At Ellettsville, visiting Northview pounded 11 hits against Edgewood’s ace pitcher but the Mustangs survived by a 6-4 score to wrap up the Western Indiana Conference championship.
Jessica LaTourette was 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI to lead the Knights.
