Prep Roundup: South girls tennis takes second at MIC

The No. 9-ranked Terre Haute South girls tennis team bested a pair of ranked teams to finish an impressive second place behind Carmel in the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference championships at Ben Davis on Saturday.
Carmel scored 55 points, trailed by South with 29 points. Center Grove was third with 23 points, followed by Terre Haute North and North Central tied for fifth with 22 points.
An individual upset came in a first round No. 1 singles match, as South’s Hunter Bullock topped North’s Brittany Farmer 1-6, 6-1 (10-4). Bullock went on to finish third, while Farmer rebounded to win twice and claim fourth place.
Second place finishers locally included Sarah Potter of North (No. 2 singles) and Mallory-Metheny-Emma Bilyeu of South (No. 2 doubles). South’s Eesha Purohit placed third (No. 3 singles).
