    Steve DeGroote has been coaching for a year or two now, yet Tuesday he got to do something for the first time in his career. Speaking to his 28-1 West Vigo High School baseball team, which faces 32-2 Andrean at 4 p.m. today at Victory Field for the Class 3A state championship, he was able to say, “Guys, this is your last game.”

  • Northview's Kade Baker finishes 34th at IHSAA state golf finals
    Avon and Adam Sumrall topped the leaderboard at the conclusion of the 73rd boys golf state finals Wednesday at The Legends of Indiana Course. Avon was first after the first 18 holes of golf and remained first at the end of the tournament, shooting 587 with rounds of 293 and 294.

  • Slow starts hurt Braves, Knights at state golf finals
    The season ended for two boys high school golf teams from the Valley on Tuesday in the state finals, but Kade Baker will be in the final 18 holes of the tournament today. The recent Northview graduate shot a 2-over-par 74 at The Legends of Indiana Course and will be one of the individual qualifiers in today’s final round along with nine teams. He will tee off at 8 a.m., weather permitting.
