Hospital to offer health screenings

PARIS, IL — A special series of total health screenings will be offered from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Paris (Ill.) Community Hospital in Paris Family Medical Center, 721 E. Court St.

These “We Care 4 U” health screenings are designed to assess overall health. All tests are for screening purposes only. Unlike medical tests performed in a regular clinic setting, the screenings do not require a physician’s order and/or an exhibited health need.

Licensed/registered health care professionals at PCH/FMC will provide the following screenings:

• Stroke screening ($129) includes an ultrasound of the carotid arteries in the neck; a peripheral arterial screening (blood pressures in the arms and legs); and an abdominal aortic aneurysm screening, which checks for an enlarged aorta.

• Lung screening ($99) tests for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The screening includes a pulmonary function test, which checks overall lung health, and a pulse oximetry test, which determines oxygen level in the blood.

• Heart/diabetic screening ($49) measures heart rate, blood pressure, blood sugar, lipid panel/total cholesterol (HDL, LDL, and triglycerides). An electrocardiogram checks for potential heart problems.

• Osteoporosis screening ($29) is a heel scan that measures bone mineral content in the body.

• Complete screening package (all tests, $249) includes stroke, lung, heart/diabetic and osteoporosis screenings.

Participants should allow at least an hour for screenings. All results will be provided the same day.

Participants are asked to wear loose-fitting clothing.

To schedule an appointment, call Leighsa Cornwell at 217-465-2606, ext. 228.
