Learn about brain fitness at Marshall Public Library

MARSHALL, Ill. — The second in a two-part program series on successful aging is coming up at Marshall Public Library.

This free program, “Staying Sharp,” is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday and will be presented by Dr. David P. Davis, physician at Clark County Family Medicine in Martinsville.

Davis will talk about how learning and memory change with age and the steps that can be taken to improve brain fitness. He will talk about brain diseases and disorders, including dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and the latest research.

Those attending will receive a booklet from The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives on Successful Aging and Your Brain, and a bookmark with brain health tips. Brain-teaser puzzles will also be available.

Brain researchers say that how we live our lives every day — the lifestyle choices we make, the activities we pursue, the friendships we maintain and even the foods we eat — can make a difference in how our brain ages.

To register call the library at 217-826-2535 or email marshallpubliclibrary@gmail.com. The library is at 612 Archer Ave.
