A question/answer period will follow her discussion. Lunch will be courtesy of Exceptional Living Center of Brazil. Meadows Home Health Care will offer blood sugar and blood pressure screenings and an additional door prize. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting Lori Aplin at 1-877-223-6109.
Staff available now for CDL exam
Motorists who possess a commercial driver’s license must now be examined by a medical professional listed on the new National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners, an initiative of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Three health care providers on staff at Paris Community Hospital/Family Medical Center are listed on the registry: Debbie Griffin, Susan Arp and Tiffany Turner. They have completed training set forth by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, which pertain to the medical demands of operating a commercial motor vehicle.
A CDL is required to operate any type of vehicle that weighs more than 26,000 pounds for commercial use, a vehicle that is used to transports hazardous materials, and a vehicle that is designed to transport 16 or more passengers. This includes, but is not limited to, tow trucks, tractor trailers and buses.
The goal of the new registry is to preserve the highest level of professional standards, training and care among medical examiners. It is also designed to promote public confidence in the quality of the examinations, and to ensure that the list of certified medical examiners is easily accessible.
