Susan G. Komen for the Cure grant funding available for clinical offerings

TERRE HAUTE —
Susan G. Komen for the Cure grant funding is available for costs that are not covered by insurance for the following clinical offerings at The Maple Center to those who are in breast cancer treatment.
Acupuncture: For the prevention or treatment of nausea/vomiting associated with chemotherapy and for help with pain related to breast cancer.
Physical Therapy/Chinese Techniques: For pain, weakness and stiffness related to breast cancer treatment.
Music Therapy: For managing stress in a healthy way, developing methods of self-care and coping with illness for breast cancer patients who are in treatment.
Call The Maple Center nonprofit office at (812) 234-8733 first for inclusion in the grant funding.

The Maple Center offers Tai Chi classes for survivors or patients with cancer or chronic illnesses.
Participants in Tai Chi will learn to use the mind-body tools of breath, balance and mindfulness through gentle movements and to apply the tools to their daily lives.
This Tai Chi form was created for those with arthritis/chronic pain.
Past participants have reported that benefits of practicing Tai Chi include improvement in strength, posture, balance, flexibility, sleep, relaxation, blood pressure, glucose count, lymph edema and general well being.
Fee is $50; free to breast cancer patients/survivors through a grant by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
Sessions are 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays from Nov. 2 to Dec. 17 in the Hux Cancer Center at 1711 N. 6 1/2 and Beech streets. Call The Maple Center at (812) 234-8733 to register.

The Maple Center offers yoga classes for survivors or patients with cancer or chronic illnesses.
Participants in yoga will learn a gentle approach to restore range of motion, relieve tension, and bring a sense of calm and well-being into one’s life.
Through this gentle approach, which is adaptable for people with arthritis or chronic pain, the participant can begin to rebuild physical strength, stamina and flexibility.
Past participants have reported that benefits of yoga include increased flexibility; improved balance, physical strength and function.
Fee is $50; free to breast cancer patients/survivors through a grant by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
Sessions are 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays from Nov. 7 to Dec. 19 in the Hux Cancer Center at 1711 N. 61/2 and Beech streets.
