Paris medical center offers classes on diabetes
Each session’s focus different; begins Monday

PARIS, Ill. —
Paris (Ill.) Community Hospital/Family Medical Center will host a series of classes this month for the community about diabetes.
The dates are July 7, 14, 21 and 28. Classes meet 10 to 11 a.m. in PCH/FMC Conference Room B. Debbie Griffin and Jan Coombe will instruct.
Each of the classes is about a certain topic. Week 1 is “Knowing your Healthy Steps;” Week 2, “Knowing your Nutrition;” Week 3, “Knowing your Numbers;” and Week 4, “Conversation Mapping and Nutrition.”
Griffin is a certified diabetes educator and sees patients of all ages to discuss their diabetes and construct a treatment plan. She also conducts screenings for diabetes. Coombe, a licensed dietitian, works with patients, both diabetic and not, to discuss developing healthy eating habits. Both are members of the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
Griffin and Coombe will be joined by Ann Welsh, nurse educator for the Edgar County (Ill.) Public Health Department.
