Win assistance for medical bills
A Utah company announced last month that a woman affected by breast cancer could receive $10,000 in financial assistance for medical bills and treatment costs simply by sharing her story online.
For the second consecutive year, Utah candle and air freshener manufacturer For Every Body has committed to sponsor a woman currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer by providing her $10,000 in financial assistance.
Individuals wishing to share their own story or who would like to nominate a family member or friend are invited to visit www.ithinkpink.org. All stories shared before Aug. 1 will be eligible for sponsorship.
The company also plans to send a breast cancer survivor on a dream vacation and present a college scholarship to a child who has lost his or her mother to the disease. The women and child selected will be honored at a breast cancer fundraising event in Lehi, Utah on Oct. 1.
According to the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organization, breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women in the United States and every woman is at risk. If the cancer is detected early, it can be treated.
Hospital offers classes to employees
Terre Haute Regional Hospital is participating in the American Heart Association Start Fit Friendly workplace program, a wellness program for hospital employees.
The program started June 27 in classrooms 1 and 2. Hospital CEO Chris Hill signed a commitment card that represented his complete support of the health and well-being of the employees.
A walk led by Hill began at 2:41 p.m. The time was set to represent the fact that for every two hours of exercise, a person could gain one hour of life expectancy (2 for 1).
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in men and women.
Part of the program is “Take the Stairs.” Employees will be encouraged to skip the elevator and take the stairs when feasible.

Program recruiting for foster parents
Hamilton Center’s Foster Care Program is recruiting for new therapeutic foster parents.
Foster parents are needed to provide a stable and loving home for children and give care and attention to their basic needs. While teaching the child what family life can be like, they also provide stability, guidance, nurturing and discipline. The foster parents work cooperatively with a team of professionals and participate with others in regularly scheduled ongoing trainings.
To learn more, call Amy Atterson, lead case manager at (812) 231-8360, or Peggy Smothers, program manager at 231-8206.
