My husband, Gene’s, Aunt Ginnie (Virginia Myles) used to make this recipe. It is a different kind of apple cake. She liked anything simple.
Uncle Peck really enjoyed apple pie cake. They didn’t have children so they enjoyed our boys. They were always bringing cakes, candy, etc., up to Oilfield when we lived up there.
Since this is the beginning of apple season this is also very good. I usually don’t buy pie fillings so you can also make your own.
Apple Pie Cake
1 box spice cake mix
2 cans apple pie filling
2 tablespoon apple juice
2 tablespoon lemon juice, plus enough apple juice to make 1 cup (or use water)
• Sprinkle half of cake
mix in greased 9- by 13-inch
cake pan.
• Then put 1 can of pie filling over top of cake mix.
• Then sprinkle rest of cake mix on top of filling.
• Then the other can of pie filling on top of all layers.
• Then put the juice over all.
• Bake at 350 degrees for about one hour.
