My family loves wilted lettuce.
We always have so much fresh lettuce on hand, we have to give it away.
My dad always loved his mother-in-law’s dressing.
Mother always tried to make it but dad would say, “it’s not like your mom’s.”
I have tried to copy the recipe and this is a close second.
It isn’t hard to make. If you want, use head lettuce instead.
Wilted Lettuce Dressing
4 slices bacon, cut up
1/4 cup vinegar
1 beaten egg
1/8 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
• Fry bacon. Combine remaining ingredients. Add to bacon and heat just to boiling, stirring frequently. Pour warm dressing over 2 or 3 cups lettuce or 1 head just before serving.
