Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Presidio Brass at ISU

TERRE HAUTE — Celebrate the most romantic day of the year with “Sounds of the Cinema,” a Valentine’s Day concert by Presidio Brass, featuring classic and popular cinematic scores, such as “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Moon River” and “West Side Story.” This dynamic performance, part of Indiana State University’s Performing Arts Series, will let audiences fall in love with favorite movies all over again.

Presidio Brass, hailing from San Diego, Calif., isn’t your grandmother’s ensemble music. “The Presidio Brass needs to be heard to be believed,” said John Lorge, principal horn for the San Diego Symphony. “Each one of the members is a virtuoso on his instrument and music flows out of them like a stream.”

Presidio Brass has performed hundreds of concerts in 30 states, including back-to-back tours with Live on Stage, from 2007-2008 and 2009-2010. Members have played with major national and international orchestras, such as the London Philharmonic, the Moscow Symphony and Los Angeles Philharmonic. They have also performed on countless soundtracks for video games and major motion pictures, while also teaching music education at several California colleges and universities.

“From the first note to the encore, every moment was a musical feast for the soul,” said Bryant Moxley, president of the Bluefield Community Concert Association.

Presidio Brass performs at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 in Tilson Auditorium. Tickets are available now at the Hulman Center Ticket Office, by calling 800-745-3000 or online at Price level one tickets are $16 for adults, $5 for youth and $12 for ISU faculty and staff. Price level two options are $14 for adults, $5 for youth and $9 for ISU faculty and staff. All ISU students are admitted for free with a valid student ID.
