Academy of Dance to tell story of ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’

TERRE HAUTE — The Academy of Dance of Terre Haute, under the direction of Patti Willey, will present its annual spring concert at 6:30 p.m. May 30 and May 31 in Indiana State University’s Tilson Auditorium.

About 300 students will tell the story of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” through ballet, tap, jazz, creative movement and modern dance.

Cameron Barnett, a student at Owen Valley High School, will dance the role of Professor Potts and Emily LaGrange, a student at Terre Haute North Vigo High School, will dance the role of Truly Scrumptious.

Amara Erickson, a Terre Haute South Vigo High School senior, will dance the role of the Baroness and Catie Duree, a junior at Terre Haute North, will be playing the Child Catcher.

Home-schooled senior Lenora Keegan and North sophomore Victoria Antonini will portray the Potts children.

Other featured dancers include North sophomore Olivia Burpo as Grandma Potts and seniors Michaella Hills from South and Alli Payonk from North as the Vulgarian spies.

Greencastle High School senior Hannah Gellman and Northview High School senior Emilee Edington will play the Toymaker.

Reserved tickets may be purchased in advance at the dance studio at 2000 S. Third St. or at the box office the day of each show. Ticket price is $18.50.
