Tried ā€˜nā€™ True: Have some fun with this orange and pineapple salad

---- — This last spring we were having our meeting of the Brick Church women. It was at Mary Ann Crumrin’s home. She served this salad for refreshments. We all loved it. It came from her sister, Marlene who lives in Alaska. I have had this salad before. My grandmother, Grace Dichols, used to make it all the time. When my boys were little she left out the coconut. They didn’t like that. Now they eat it. But Steve doesn’t like nuts, so now when he’s around I don’t put those in the salad. When it is holiday time, you can color the coconut. Also add red and green cherries. Have some fun with this. Thanks, Mary Ann.

Marlene’s Salad

1 large can Mandarin oranges

1 large can pineapple chunks

1 cup small marshmallows

1⁄2 cup coconut

1⁄2 cup nuts

1⁄4 cup sugar

1⁄3 cup mayonnaise plus milk to thin

• Mix all ingredients together.

• Refrigerate.

If made the day before, the flavors marry together.
