Ivy Tech to host Matter & Motion March 22

TERRE HAUTE — From touring an ambulance to play acting at Ivy Improv!, learning is fun for everyone at the 14th annual Matter & Motion from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Ivy Tech Community College-Wabash Valley, 8000 S. Education Drive.

The free family event is open to everyone and features exhibits, educational activities and games designed to highlight technology, education, science and health programs at Ivy Tech. Community organizations will also be on hand. Activities and demonstrations include:

• Teddy Bear Clinic where medical personnel can give bears a check-up

• Fingerprinting by the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department

• Explore a surgical environment

• Visit the slime room

• X-ray a favorite toy

• Racing games, including solar and salt water cars

• Fire safety house shows how to survive should a fire happen at home

• Arts, crafts, coloring

• Puzzles and games including duck pond and fish bowl toss

Bring a furry friend and join in “Animal Frenzy,” outdoor activities planned by Indiana State’s Leadership Learning Community in support of Ivy Tech and the Terre Haute Humane Society partnership.  

T-shirts will be on sale during the event for $10 to benefit the campaign to co-locate the Terre Haute Humane Society/shelter operations and Ivy Tech’s veterinary health education programs in the former Doughmakers building in the southern Vigo County Industrial Park.

Baked goods and concessions will be available for sale. HI-99 and the WTHI-TV weather crew will add to the festivities.
