Sandy Hackett’s famous Rat Pack is coming to Terre Haute to ring in a swingin’ holiday season with its critically acclaimed show “Someday at Christmas.”
Hailed as “extremely strong and hugely entertaining,” “Someday at Christmas” blends the classic charisma of the golden age of Las Vegas with some of Ron Miller’s greatest Christmas hits.
As part of the Indiana State University Performing Arts Series, sponsored by Terre Haute Savings Bank, the show will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. On this night, Tilson Auditorium will be transformed to take audiences back 50 years to enjoy a touching holiday, Rat Pack style.
Talent, comedy and fun abound in this tribute to Rat Pack greats such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin. Co-producer Hackett stars as Joey Bishop, bringing laughs to the show with his comic timing. The interaction between the group members will ring true to anyone familiar with the original Rat Pack, though newcomers will also enjoy this uplifting and fun performance.
Co-producer and daughter of songwriter Ron Miller, Lisa Dawn Miller, also stars in the show with Hackett.
“The thing that’s great about this show is we have all the Rat Pack songs, but we also have all of the Christmas songs that everybody loves,” Miller said.
Some favorites included in the show are “Someday at Christmas,” written by Ron Miller, and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” a favorite of Sinatra.
In addition to the show, the ISU Performing Arts Series will be sponsoring a complimentary pre-show event beginning at 6:45 in the lobby area of Tilson. Visitors can watch the Ebony Majestic Choir perform, get their pictures taken with Santa and enjoy refreshments. Audience members are encouraged to bring a new and unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots. A dropoff will be located at the pre-show event.
