Purdue Glee Club bringing its show to Bloomfield stage April 6

BLOOMFIELD — The Purdue Varsity Glee Club will perform at 7 p.m. on April 6 in the Glover Gym at Bloomfield High School.

The group’s repertoire includes gospel, vocal jazz, swing, contemporary hits, romantic ballads, classical choral selections, barbershop, folk melodies, patriotic standards, familiar opera choruses, country and novelty tunes. It uses small groups and soloists in each show.

Averaging between 50 to 60 performances each year, the club performs throughout the country, including on the Super Bowl Village stage, at this year’s presidential inauguration festivities in Washington, D.C., tours through Florida on spring breaks, and an upcoming tour in May through Austria, Germany, Switzerland and France.

Brothers Matthew and Sean Hanauer, both Bloomfield High School alumni, are members of the club and are excited to be performing back at Bloomfield High School. They both performed with the Bloomfield choral groups throughout their elementary, junior high and high school years. They also performed in Bloomfield High School’s productions at Shawnee Theater each fall.

Matthew is a Purdue senior and will graduate in May with a degree in environmental science. Sean is completing his freshman year and is majoring in aeronautical engineering technology.

The April 6 show will open with Bloomfield High School’s Center Stage performing several numbers from an upcoming show at Disney World and close with Center Stage joining the glee club for the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

Pre-sale tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students. All tickets day of show, if available, are $12. Tickets are now on sale, available at www.Friendsofthe

GleeClub.com or by calling 812-875-2503.

Additional proceeds from the concert will go to the Bloomfield choral department.

There also is an opportunity to have dinner with the glee club before the show.

Reservations for dinner with the glee club before the show are required by March 31, available at the club’s website.
