Terre Haute Eagles plan Charity Ride for Guard group on Saturday

TERRE HAUTE — The Terre Haute Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 291 will stage the Eagle Riders Charity Ride for the Indiana National Guard Family Readiness Group of Company F, a military family support group, on Saturday.

The roar of motorcycle engines will be heard over a stretch of 100 miles from Thompson Honda on Honeycreek Drive, through the country and back to the Eagles’ aerie at 823 Poplar St.

“The day is going to be a lot of fun for a great cause,” said FOE aerie member Ron Alvis. “The Eagles’ motto is ‘People Helping People,’ and this event gives us one day to give back to military families who sacrifice so much for our country every day.”

All motorcycle enthusiasts are welcome to join the ride for soldiers. The day of the event, riders may register from 10 a.m. to noon at Thompson Honda for a registration fee of $10. After the ride, riders will be greeted with a ribeye dinner and salad bar from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by a night of dancing to live music. Cost of the dinner is $13 for singles, $25 for couples.

The Terre Haute FOE aerie and auxiliary No. 291, home to more than 525 members, donate to many local and national organizations. The Eagles donate to Indiana State University’s research department in its search for cures for cancer and diabetes, as well as national Eagles’ charities for children’s and seniors’ initiatives.
