Applications being accepted for pageant

— Applications are now being accepted for the 2008 Vigo County Fair Queen Pageant. The pageant will be June 27 at Terre Haute South Vigo High School.
Each contestant entering must be at least 16 years old and cannot have had their 21st birthday as of August 15, 2008. Contestants must be a resident of Vigo County and at least one parent must be a Vigo County resident.
Each contestant must be an active member of at least one worthwhile organization in the community and eligibility is not limited to 4-H membership. No professional models are eligible, nor can a contestant who has competed at the State Fair compete again.
Workshops on poise, modeling, interviews and what to expect during the judging will be conducted for all contestants. There is no talent contest, but the contestants do a short group routine at the beginning of the pageant.
Contestants will be judged on the basis of beauty, poise and personality. They will be judged in evening wear, professional wear and interview sessions.
The winner will be the recipient of several prizes, will reign over the fair and will represent Vigo County at the Indiana State Fair Pageant in August.
The deadline for applications is May 22. Applications can be obtained at each of the high schools or by contacting the Wabash Valley Fair Association at 275 Ohio Street or by calling (812) 462-3371.
