Herbal Society to host Plant and Herb Faire

Club to have information booth at May 10 event

Special to the Tribune-Star

TERRE HAUTE Wabash Valley Herbal Society will have its spring Plant and Herb Faire from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 10 in Fairbanks Park.

The society is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to educating the public about herbs and their many uses. The group’s major fundraiser is the annual fair.

“Our club will have a tent with all the different kinds of herbs in it, and they are culinary herbs and medicinal herbs. Some of your culinary herbs can be used for medicinal [purposes],” said club publicity chairman Jeanne La Vanne. “We also have a club booth and we’ll have information there if people want to know different things about the herbs.” Vendors will have water plants and other items, La Vanne said.

The funds raised underwrite special events, field trips, 10 college scholarships of $500 each, donations of herb books, videotapes and periodicals to Wabash Valley libraries. The event is co-sponsored by the society and the Terre Haute Parks and Recreation Department.

For more information, call Larry or Julie Agee at (812) 299-9533 or La Vanne at (812) 466-4700.
