Each year the Indiana Wildlife Artist Association presents a show of Fine Nature Art in various locations across the state featuring many of the state’s premier artists vying for awards. The showing will be displayed to the public through Friday at the Visitors Center at Angel Mounds State Historic Site in Evansville.
This exhibit includes two- and three-dimensional artwork in a variety of media and styles with a wide range of subjects. The show was judged by expert representatives for the Fine Arts and Wildlife Naturalist professions. The exhibit displays some of the finest amateur and professional artists working in the subject of wildlife and nature in Indiana and is an excellent concentration of artists dedicated to preserving and promoting wildlife art.
Three local artists and members of River City Art Association were juried into the show: Debbie Anderson, Monty Jones, and his son, Marty Jones. Debbie Anderson received a 1st Place for her “Keen Senses” and a 2nd Place for her “Buck n Rut” (both pieces were done in Intarsia, a form of wood inlaying that is similar to marquetry); Marty Jones captured a 2nd Place for his painting of “Playmates.”
