Myers Dinner Theatre to present ‘The World of Christmas’

Special to the Tribune-Star

TERRE HAUTE Myers Dinner Theatre will open an original musical Christmas story today titled “The World of Christmas,” to run weekends through Dec. 23, with several weekday matinees.

Synopsis: Santa is too sick to deliver presents on Christmas Eve, so Mrs. Claus and the elves enlist the aid of two children and people from countries all over the world, not only to deliver the presents, but to help Santa get well, and to teach the children the true meaning of Christmas.

Songs include “It’s Christmas Time All Over the World,” “Sleigh Ride,” “Mele Kalikimaka,” “Feliz Navidad,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas,” “Santa Baby,” “Blue Christmas,” and even “Australian Jingle Bells!” Some of the countries visited by the children and the elves are Sweden, France, Germany, Spain, Japan, England, Poland and Italy.

Written by Harvey G. Brundage for Myers Dinner Theatre, this production is directed by Steven Cole Johnson of Indianapolis. Johnson has been involved in more than 40 theatrical productions, was one of the founders of the Oaklandon Civic Theatre and has performed in several short films.

Other onstage appearances will be by MDT regulars Linnea Leatherman, Ginny Spillman and Michael Moyer, all of Indianapolis, and Kerry Arnold of Lafayette. Rounding out the adult cast is MDT newcomer Carson Bradfield of Arcadia.

Appearing as Dorothy are fifth-grader Ashley Marshall of Attica and sixth-grader Annie Rodgers of Avon Middle School East. The role of Teddy will be played by seventh-grader Kurt Green of Indianapolis, and Hunter Best, a seventh-grader at Plainfield Middle School.

Tickets for “The World of Christmas” may be bought by calling the Myers Dinner Theatre office at (765) 798-4902 (Ext. 2), or by e-mail at myersdt

@tctc.com. Ticket prices are $36 for dinner, show and tax. Children ages 4-10 are half price. A prime rib buffet will be served.
